Volvo passengers may be able to slide their seats too far forward, putting them at serious risk in the event of a car accident.
The seat rail problem has prompted Swedish automaker Volvo to recall 7,420 sedans and wagons on Monday.
According to news reports, the vehicles involved in the recall include: 2009 to 2011 S40 and S60 sedans and V50 wagons and 2010 to 2011 XC60 wagons.
Car dealers will need to replace the front passenger seat rail detection system, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Dealers will inspect the front passenger seat for presence of an “end stop” and make free repairs, if necessary. Volvo owners will be notified to take their car to a dealer to get the issue fixed.
