A trucker suffered minor injuries Wednesday morning when the cement truck he was driving went off the road and struck a support column of a bridge in Greenville County, report news sources.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, shortly after 8 a.m. the 57-year-old man was driving the truck northbound on I-85 when traffic ahead slowed per usual heavy morning traffic near mile marker 51 between Laurens and Woodruff roads.
Knowing that he would not be able to slow down in time to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of him, the trucker steered the cement truck toward the side of the road where it struck the column and came to rest in a ditch. It was raining slightly at the time of the crash.
The trucker was taken to a local hospital for his injuries. Authorities charged him with driving too fast for conditions.
As a Greenville auto accident attorney, roadway safety is something that I am very conscious of; I encourage motorists to be mindful of their surroundings. Because of my experience as a Greenville personal injury lawyer, I am very aware of the split-second difference between everything seeming fine and a terrible vehicle crash. I urge all drivers to always practice safe driving habits.
