No one was injured in a dangerous train accident Tuesday morning in Williamsburg County, according to news reports.
The train accident occurred around 7 a.m. Tuesday on Broomstraw Road and 3rd Street in Lovely Lane when a school teacher was reportedly running late to school. She was driving on the road when she reportedly tried to go around a crossing gate at train tracks. The woman wasn’t able to clear the tracks before the train came.
An AMTRAK passenger train crashed into the teacher’s Toyota Camry.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported in connection to the train accident.
As a Columbia car accident attorney, I’m glad to hear that no injuries were reported in the collision. This accident could have potentially been much worse that what it was. I urge drivers to always follow railroad crossing signs and never attempt to beat a train. I also urge pedestrians to be extremely careful near train tracks and never cross tracks at unmarked areas. Warning signs and barriers are put at train tracks for the sole reason of keeping people safe.
