By Personal Injury Lawyer on June 18, 2011

One person died in a car accident on Wednesday involving a tractor trailer, according to news reports.

The accident occurred on Highway 61 when an 18-year-old driver was traveling south on the highway when he lost control of his vehicle and crossed the center line, according to news reports. It is unclear exactly how the collision occurred, but the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the teenage driver crashed head-on into a tractor trailer hauling three boats.

The teenage driver reportedly died upon impact of the collision, according to news reports. It is unknown if he was wearing his seatbelt or not. Photos of the scene showed his car cut completely in half.

The driver of the tractor trailer was injured in the collision. He was transported to the Colleton Hospital. His current condition or extent of injuries is unknown. He was wearing a seatbelt, according to police.
