Interstate 77 is reopened after a tractor trailer accident near Bluff Road this morning, according to news reports.
The accident occurred around 8:10 a.m. when a tractor trailer overturned.
According to officials, “the tractor trailer was travelling around a curve in the highway, and the driver lost control of the vehicle. That’s when troopers say the truck’s load shifted, and the truck toppled over, spilling glass into all three northbound lanes of the highway. No other vehicles were involved.”
The 52-year-old truck driver from Gaston was reportedly driving too fast, causing the crash. He will be ticket for ticketed for driving too fast for conditions, troopers said.
Thankfully, he was not seriously injured in the crash and did not require hospital attention.
The crash closed three northbound lanes of Interstate 77 near Bluff Road until around noon. Crews had to clean up shattered glass across the roadway.
As a Greenville personal injury lawyer, I’m glad to hear that no one was seriously injured in the crash. I urge drivers to always follow the speed limit and drive safety to avoid a crash like this in the future.
