Richland County Coroner: Two Dead from Separate Crashes

Two people died Saturday due to injuries suffered in separate Richland County crashes, report media sources.

The most recent crash occurred Saturday morning at 2:40 a.m. in Columbia. According to the Richland County Coroner’s Office, a 28-year-old man was riding in the rear seat of a vehicle traveling on Heyward Brockington Road when the vehicle crashed into a tree. The man, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, died of his injuries at 6:48 a.m.

The other incident occurred at about 10:30 p.m. on October 13. According to the Coroner’s Office a 47-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle on Shop Road. She was taken to a Columbia hospital; she died of her wounds early Saturday morning.
