One person died and another was injured Thursday afternoon in a hit-and-run collision in Columbia, report news sources.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, at 3:45 p.m. authorities received a report of a crash on Interstate 77 near mile-marker 51. Troopers report that a southbound green Ford Explorer sport utility vehicle collided with a beige Honda. The impact caused the Honda to go off the road and crash into a tree.
One person in the Honda died, and other occupant of the vehicle was injured.
The SUV appeared to go out of control for a moment, but then continued traveling southbound on the freeway. Authorities say the at large vehicle has a North Carolina license plate and may be the same vehicle that was the subject of a reckless driving report that was made shortly before the collision.
As a Columbia car accident lawyer, I have witnessed first-hand the shock and grief of those left behind after an unexpected death. My heartfelt condolences go out to the family, friends and loved ones of the person who died. I hope that they are getting all of the help and support they need during this challenging time. Being a Columbia personal injury attorney, I am well aware of the types of injuries that can be suffered in a collision. I wish the injured person a rapid recovery from their injuries.
