Authorities are investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a North Carolina man when the vehicle he was driving went off the road early Saturday morning in Marlboro County, report news sources.
According the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash, which was reported to authorities at 3:11 a.m., occurred a mile east of Bennettsville on Highway 9 when a 1997 Pontiac went off the left side of the road and overturned.
The driver, 51-year-old Hamlet, NC man, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He was ejected from the vehicle when it rolled over. He was declared dead at the scene at 3:30 a.m., according to the Marlboro County Coroner’s Office.
