A tractor trailer that had pulled over to the side of Interstate 26 in Spartanburg overturned, requiring westbound traffic to be rerouted for several hours on Sunday, report news sources.
According the South Carolina Highway Patrol, at about 1:30 p.m. the driver of the tractor trailer pulled over to the side of the road near mile marker 21 because the semi had two flat tires. The 18-wheeler was hauling several forklifts, the weight of which apparently shifted, caused the tractor trailer to overturn. The forklifts had to be removed from the semi before the tractor trailer could be rightened and removed from the scene.
Westbound Interstate 26 traffic was rerouted to Highway 29 while emergency crews cleared the wreckage. By 10:45 p.m. both westbound lanes were back open and traffic was flowing regularly.
The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured in the incident and there are no charges pending, said a Highway Patrol spokesperson.
Being a Spartanburg car accident attorney, I am well aware of the types of injuries that can be suffered in a rollover accident. I am relieved that no one was hurt. Because of my experience as a Spartanburg personal injury lawyer, I am very aware of the split-second difference between everything seeming fine and a terrible vehicle crash. I urge motorists always to practice safe driving habits and to stay alert to changing road and traffic conditions.
